Become internally driven ,not externally driven

One day, if someone gets up on the right side of the bed and calls me and says, "You are the greatest person on earth. You are doing a great job and I want you to know I am honored to call you a friend," I know he is sincere. How does it make me feel? Great.

But the next day, he gets up on the wrong side of the bed, picks up the phone and
says, "You rascal, you cheat, you crook! You are the biggest fraud in town." How does it make me
feel? Terrible.

So the first day when he says "you are the greatest guy," I feel great and the next day
when he says "you rascal," I feel terrible.
Who is controlling my life? Obviously, he is. Is that the way I want to go through life? Not at all. That is being externally driven.
I want to be internally driven. When he calls me and says I am the greatest guy, it is good to hear those words. But even if he doesn't say those words, in my own estimation, I am still a good human being. And the next day when he rips me apart, he can't really, because in my own estimation, I am still a good human being. When people make statements like, "You make me angry," the focus of control is external. But if I say I am
angry or I choose to be angry, the focus of control is internal.

No one can make you feel inferior without your permission.
There is a story about an ancient Indian sage who was called ugly names by a passerby. The sage listened unperturbed till the man ran out of words. He asked the man, "If an offering is not accepted, who does it belong to?" The man replied, "It belongs to the person who offered it." The sage said, "I refuse to accept your offering," and walked away, leaving the man dazed. The sage was internally driven........Are you????

Dealing with mistakes ..

Here is a simple 3 step approach for dealing with mistakes.

Step 1: Admit that you made a mistake

First admit you made a mistake to yourself. Then, if there is someone else involved, admit you made a mistake to them and apologise. The words, "I made a mistake and I’m sorry" are a great first step to resolving a conflict.
Denying that you made a mistake does not solve anything and simply prolongs
the negative energy associated with the situation.

Step 2: Identify the lesson that comes with your mistake

The good news is that every mistake comes with a built in lesson that can help you improve your life in the future. To find your hidden lesson ask yourself, "What can I learn from this situation?"
By finding the hidden lesson within your mistake, you immediately transform the situation from a negative experience to a useful learning experience.

Step 3: Forgive yourself and let it go

All too often we dwell on our mistakes and continue to beat ourselves up over what happened. Once you have admitted your mistake and identified the lesson it carries, let go of the mistake, forgive yourself and move on. If a similar situation arises in the future, you are now better prepared to choose the right course of action.

Difficult but not impossible, give a try next time...:)

Improve your personality

As we talked before about developing our characters or personalities and mentioned the main principals that we must take in consideration , today we are going to talk about how to improve our personalities or simply, the ways by which we can accomplish enhancing our characters or personalities.

Be a better listener:

Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis was considered one of the most charming women in the world because she cultivated the skill of being an exceptional listener. She was known for the way she would look a person in the eyes,  hang on their every word, and make them feel important. There is nothing more appealing than having someone listen to you intently making you feel like you're the only person in the world.

Read more and expand your interests:

The more you read and cultivate new interests, the more interesting you are to others. When you meet new people it gives you the opportunity to share what you know and to exchange your views with them.

Be a good conversationalist:

This relates to how much you read and know. Once you have much to contribute, learn how to talk about it with others. No one can read about or know everything, so it's refreshing to learn from others those things we don't have the time to about read ourselves. If you happen to be shy, join a group lthat encourages you to talk about what you know.

Have an Opinion:

There is nothing more tiresome than trying to talk to someone who has no opinion on anything. A conversation has nowhere to go if you have nothing to expound on. If, however, you have an uncommon point of view or differing opinion, you are more interesting and stimulating to be with socially (unless you're a know-it-all, of course).  A unique outlook expands everyone's perspective.

Meet New People:

Make the effort to meet new people especially those unlike you. It not only exposes you to different cultures and alternative ways of doing things, it broadens your horizons.

Be yourself:

The next most tiresome thing after having no opinions is trying to be something you're not. Molding yourself in order to fit in, or be accepted, usually backfires. Since each of us is unique, expressing that uniqueness is what makes us interesting. Attempting to be a carbon copy of someone else not only falls flat, but reveals a lack of authenticity.

Have a positive outlook and attitude:

Who wants to be around people who are negative, complain a lot, or have nothing good to say? In fact, most of us run when we see them coming. Instead, be the kind of upbeat person who lights up a room with your energy when you enter it. Do it by looking for the best in people and things. Smile warmly, spread good cheer, and enliven others with your presence.

Be fun and see the humorous side of life:

Everyone enjoys the company of someone who makes them laugh, or smile, so look for the humorous, quirky side in a situation - there always is one. Comic relief is a much welcome and needed diversion at times. When you can add fun and lightheartedness to an otherwise dull or gloomy setting, others will naturally be attracted to you, not to mention grateful.

Be supportive of others:

Being supportive is probably the most endearing quality you can integrate into your personality. Just as you yourself welcome it, be the support for others when they need it. We all love a cheerleader in our corner; someone who is encouraging, believes in us and helps pick us up when we're down.

Have Integrity and treat people with respect:

Being honest and true to your word will bring you the admiration, respect and gratitude of others. Nothing improves a person's personality more than integrity and respect - respect for others, as well as respect for yourself.

    Develop Your Character

There is no doubt that as we live, we should strive to improve our characters in order to have a "good character" or a" good personality", so we can be likeable, interesting and all people are pleased to be with us, also to reflect happiness and positivity to our surroundings ...

Also, believe in that you can choose to develop your personality either to good or bad ... strengthen and improving it is under your own control , only you who can allow you character to be enhanced.
To start developing your character, consider the following tips in your mind.

    Remain flexible

Most people don't like change, and character change can be painful and uncomfortable. When starting the character-building process, remember that your efforts could turn out just as you planned, better than you anticipated, worse than you expected, or just plain different.

Solicit honest feedback about your existing character

Asking for frank and sincere feedback requires openness and vulnerability. This means that you can and most likely will get your feelings hurt. When this happens, don't brood or sulk; look for truth in the feedback that can be used to build your character-not tear it down.

    Learn from your failures

Admit it and accept appropriate responsibility for any failures you make. Do not blame others. If possible, repair any damage, fix the problem, and set the situation right. Identify key lessons learned from every mistake or failure for future improvement.

    Make tough ethical decisions

Improving your character inevitably requires taking a hard stand on moral issues. You may have to swallow your pride, deal with unfairness and be unpopular when making good decisions involving difficult issues.

    Handle success properly

Success tests a person's character better than failure does. If you define success based solely on how many possessions you have; how much money you have in the bank, and fame or achievements; you are in danger of weakening your character.

Be a smooth talker (Improve your conversation skills)

It's known that one of the best ways to connect with people and build quality relationships is through making conversation. Although most people can hold a conversation, only a few are smooth and charismatic when they talk.
and here they are the most simple and effective ways to be a smooth talker.

    1. Talk slowly
Typically, good talkers don’t rush into a conversation. They take their time when they reflect on something and when they say it out loud. They act as if they have all the time in the world. This makes them come off as centered and collected. Model this way of talking and you will create the same effect.
    2. Hold more eye contact
Most people keep eye contact about 2/3 of the time or less when they talk. In my experience, it’s a very good idea to hold eye contact just a bit more than that. This will convey confidence and interest in interacting with them.
    3. Notice the details
People with good conversation skills tend to notice the kind of things that the average person doesn’t notice, and to bring such details into the conversation. They may notice and point out an interesting ring on the other person’s hand, a certain foreign accent, or a certain voice tone they use when saying a name. Thus, such individuals impress people in a very elegant manner.
    4. Give unique compliments
Anybody can pay a generic compliment to try and get another person’s appreciation. Charismatic people on the other hand are able to really pay attention to others, to look beyond the facade and thus, pay unique compliments. Do the same and besides wooing others, you may even help them find out things about themselves they didn’t know.
    5. Express your emotions
It’s very rare to meet a person who is comfortable talking about their emotions and how certain things make them feel, especially with strangers. Yet this way of talking is a real virtue. Don’t just present the facts, you’re not a newspaper. Express your feelings about those facts. Keep in mind that it is at the emotional level that people connect best.
    6. Offer interesting insights
Anybody can talk about the news or express basic opinions. But good talkers can frequently tell you things you didn’t know and that you’ll find fascinating. This is why it’s good to have knowledge into fields such as psychology or sociology, and bring such knowledge out at the right moments in a conversation.
    7. Use the best words
The ability to talk smoothly has a lot to do with choosing the precise words to convey your precise feelings or thoughts. Constantly develop your vocabulary and practice communicating as accurately as possible. It will help you develop a way with words and allow you to express yourself more easily.

    Secrets of success

Many people want to be successful in their lives for more personal fulfillment and joy. The definition of success can have a different meaning for everyone. Although everyone has their own way of finding success, there are certain things that you need to be aware of in order to have more joy and fulfillment. Make a habit of practicing these fifteen points so that you can be the rock star of your life!

    1. How You Think is Everything.
Always be positive. Think Success, not Failure. Beware of a negative environment. This trait has to be one of the most important in the entire list. Your belief that you can accomplish your goals has to be unwavering. The moment you say to yourself “I can’t…”, then you won’t. I was always given the advice “never say I can’t” and I’d like to strike those words from the dictionary.
I’ve found that from time-to-time my attitude waivers. A mentor of mine once said “it’s ok to visit pity city, but you can’t stay and there comes a time when you need to leave”. Positive things happen to positive people.

    2. Decide upon Your True Dreams and Goals:
Write down your specific goals and develop a plan to reach them. Write down my dreams and goals? Develop a plan to reach them? You mean like a project plan? Yes, that’s exactly what this means. You may have heard the old adage: A New Years resolution that isn’t written down is just a dream, and dreams are not goals.
Goals are those concrete, measurable stepping stones of achievement that track your progress towards your dreams.

    3. Take Action:
Goals are nothing without action. Be like Nike and “Just do it”. I took action by reaching out and started writing. Every day I try to take some action towards my goals. It may be small, but it’s still an action. Have you taken action towards your goals?

    4. Never Stop Learning:
Go back to school or read books. Get training & acquire skills. Becoming a life long learner would benefit us all and is something we should instill in our kids. It’s funny that once you’re out of school you realize how enjoyable learning can be.

    5. Be Persistent and Work Hard:
Success is a marathon, not a sprint. Never give up.I think every story of success I read entails long hard hours of work. There is no getting around this and there is no free lunch. But, if you’re working towards something that you’re passionate about, something you love – then is it really work?

    6. Learn to Analyze Details:
Get all the facts, all the input. Learn from your mistakes. I think you have to strike a balance between getting all the facts and making a decision with incomplete data – both are traits of successful people. Spend time gathering details, but don’t catch ‘analysis paralysis’.

    7. Focus Your Time And Money:
Don’t let other people or things distract you. Remain laser focused on your goals and surround yourself with positive people that believe in you. Don’t be distracted by the naysayer’s or tasks that are not helping you achieve your goals.

    8. Don’t Be Afraid To Innovate:
Be different. Following the herd is a sure way to mediocrity. Follow through on that break-out idea you have. Ask yourself “What would I do if I wasn’t afraid?”

    9. Deal And Communicate With People Effectively:
No person is an island. Learn to understand and motivate others. Successful people develop and nurture a network and they only do that by treating people openly, fairly and many times firmly. There is nothing wrong about being firm – just don’t cross the a-hole line.

    10. Be Honest And Dependable:
    Take responsibility, otherwise numbers 1 – 9 won’t matter.

Be a good presenter "Improve your presentation skills"

Your presentations skills are just as important as the information you are presenting. This guide will help you prepare for a presentation and polish your speaking skills for a successful pitch.

    - Keep the focus
    • Most executive presentation skills training sessions begin with learning how to structure your presentation for maximum focus.
    • Don’t keep the people guessing what the session is about, outline the objectives right at the beginning.
    • Clearly state WIIFM (What’s in it for me) from the point of view of your listeners. Is the presentation you are giving, for information sake or for idea generation? Tell them how they will benefit for it.
    • Use appropriate diagrams, graphs, charts etc. to clarify difficult points. Do not solely rely on your verbal descriptions.
    • Make a clear plan with time lines for the session, so you do not loose focus or direction.
    • Limit unrelated discussions during the presentation by committing some extra time for those topic after the session is over (commit only if enough people are interested)
    - Manage your speech
    • Clarify right at the beginning of the session which language is preferable for the audience (in case of bilingual audience)
    • Check with the participants sitting in the farthest corner if you are clearly audible.
    • Keep your voice loud enough so it doesn’t sound weak, but low enough so it doesn’t sound too bossy. Video yourself to understand the correct volume for your voice (usually 7-8 decibels is  accepted as optimum level).
    • You are a presenter but not a NEWS presenter! People will connect almost immediately with you if you show emotions in your voice. Use inflections and changes in pitch to add meaning to your  words. Vary your volume and pace to get people interested. Record yourself to verify how well you are doing.
    • Speak a little slower than you speak in normal circumstances. Pace your speech so that each word is separately audible.
    - Master your energy
    • A presenter who does not exude energy fails to inspire the audience. Be the powerhouse of the group, even if you have to fake it!
    • Keep the energy quotient high in participants by involving them in activities and discussions.
    • Body should move naturally. Fidgeting does not qualify as energetic body language!
    • You do not have to move around the room to get attention. Use your energy well by creating magic in the area you feel comfortable in. Just make sure your comfort zone is not too close to one of the participants.
    - Use your eyes well
    • Keep eye contact with participants. Try to make eye contact with as many people as possible, but do not make it like a robot. Keep it natural. By that I mean between 1 to 5 seconds, never just for fraction of a second.
    • Do not write on the board, read notes or slides while speaking, this not only breaks the eye contact, it reflect poorly on your preparation.
    • When someone asks a question, start and finish your answer looking at him/her. But do not maintain the eye contact throughout. Look at other people while answering the question.
    - Prepare…prepare…prepare
    • I can’t say this enough. Never go in for a training unprepared!
    • Prepare an outline of the training or small notes, the size of a visiting card. So you can take help if you get stuck. Write just the keywords in bold letter on those for quick reading.
    • Learn small pieces by heart which should not be improvised. For e.g. some statistics, theme for visualization exercise etc. But that’s it! Practice what you are going to say, but do not learn verbatim.
Take out your video camera and record yourself presenting. Play it back to evaluate yourself, if possible take feedback from your friends and colleagues. Improving executive presentation skills is a matter of more practice. Just remember you are presenting on a topic to make new connections and contacts with people who are interested in the same topic, and you’ll be fine. And remember to pause and breathe. What may seem like a long pause to you is usually just 2-3 seconds .

    Interpersonal skills

Interpersonal skills are those life skills we use every day to communicate and interact with other people, individually or in groups.
Interpersonal skills include not only how we communicate with others, but also our confidence and our ability to listen and understand. Problem solving, decision making and personal stress management are also considered interpersonal skills.
People with strong interpersonal skills are usually more successful in both their professional and personal lives. They are perceived as more calm, confident and charismatic - qualities that are often endearing or appealing to others. Being more aware of your interpersonal skills can help you improve and develop them.
Here are some of these skills which will discussed later with details:

    - Learn To Listen: Listening is not the same as hearing. Take time to listen carefully to what others are saying through both their verbal and non-verbal communications.

    -  Choose your words: Be aware of the words you are using when talking to others. Could you be misunderstood or confuse the issue?  Practise clarity and learn to seek feedback to ensure your message has been understood. Encourage others to engage in communication use appropriate questioning to develop your understanding.

    - Understand why communication fails: By learning about the various barriers to good communication you can be aware of and reduce the likelihood of ineffective interpersonal communication.

    - Relax: When we are nervous we tend to talk more quickly and therefore less clearly.  Being tense is also evident in our body language and other non-verbal communication. Instead, try to stay calm, make eye contact and smile.  Let your confidence shine.
    -  Clarify: Show an interest in the people you talk to. Ask questions and seek clarification on any points that could be easily misunderstood.

    - Be Positive: Try to remain positive and cheerful.  People are much more likely to be drawn to you if you can maintain a positive attitude.

    - Understand stress: Learn to recognise, manage and reduce stress in others and yourself.  Although stress is not always bad it can have a detrimental effect on the communication process.

    - Learn to be Assertive: You should aim to be neither passive nor aggressive. Being assertive is about expressing your feelings and beliefs in a way that others can understand and respect.  Assertiveness is fundamental to successful negotiation.

    -
Reflect and Improve: Think about previous conversations and other interpersonal interactions; learn from your mistakes and successes.  Always keep a positive attitude but realise that we can all always improve our communication skills.
    - Negotiate:  Learn how to effectively negotiate with others paving the way to mutual respect, trust and lasting interpersonal relations.

Improve yourself ,, Reduce your Ego ...

Ego is simply an idea of who you are that you carry around with you. As such, it cannot be surgically removed by having an egoectomy! This idea of who you think you are will persistently erode any possibility you have of connecting to intention.
Here we will show you simple steps to reduce your Ego, hence, you will have a better character.

    Step 1) Stop being offended
When we get offended, it is really our ego at work. We take something that someone did or said personally, and make it wrong. Getting offended creates the same destructive energy that offended you in the first place and leads to an escalated situation of negative energy, thus moving us away from our connection to source.

Step 2) Let go of the need to win
It is our ego that divides the world into winners and losers. While performing to the best of our abilities is necessary, the real problem happens when we start associating our  self-worth to winning. If our self-worth is associated with winning, sooner or later we will get disconnected from source, as it not possible to win all the time. There will always be someone faster, stronger, younger, smarter on some day.

Step 3) Let go of the need to be right
The natural job of the ego is to make ourselves right, and make others wrong. Being connected to our source is being kind, loving, receptive and at peace, without any anger, resentment or bitterness.  Giving power to the ego is encouraging it's natural hostility, and when one is hostile, he is disconnected from the source. The ego is the reason many beautiful relationships are destroyed. In moments when the ego kicks in strongly, one can ask ourselves  “Do we want to be right or do we want to be happy?” Choosing to be happy keeps our connection to our source and helps us create the life we want.

Step 4) Let go of the need to be superior
All of us are equal in the eyes of God. Each and every person is a manifestation of divinity. We all have a special purpose of our own. No one is inferior or superior. However it is natural for the ego to identify others on the basis of their appearance, achievements, intelligence and possessions, and judge itself as superior in some way. A superiority complex is a form of hostility, and attracts back only hostile feelings, and keeps us disconnected with source.

Step 5) Let go of the need to have more
The ego is never satisfied and always wants more. No matter how much one achieves or acquires, it is never enough for the ego. However this constant need of wanting more keeps one perpetually in a state of lack, and only brings back more lack. Instead, when we let go of this need to have more, we naturally start attracting abundance in our life. The nature of source is to be contended, without any lack, and hence contentment is necessary to be connected to the source.

Step 6) Stop identifying yourself on the basis of your achievements
The ego’s concept is that “I did it” - It is I who achieved everything. All spiritual students are taught that “We are not the doer”. What does that mean? It means giving up the need to take credit for all achievements. A person advanced on the path realizes that ultimately all talents are given by Him, and the credit for all achievements also goes to Him. We just need to be grateful that He has given us unique talents with which we fulfill our purpose in this world. Taking all credit for our achievements is like the pen taking credit for writing a poem that the poet penned down. As long as we think “we did it”, the ego is active and we are disconnected from our source.

Step 7) Let go of your reputation
Your reputation lies in the minds of others and you have no control over it. When we are overly concerned about what others think of us, we are disconnected from our source and become a slave to others' opinions. The real voice to listen to the voice of the heart - in doing so one is truly connected to his purpose and fully connected to the source. Your reputation has nothing to do with you - so let others debate over it.

    Leadership Skills (Be a Leader)

Leaders are both born and made. See if you have what it takes to be a manager, and what you can do to improve the skills you already have.
Managers don't become leaders overnight. Even “born” leaders don’t start out possessing all these skills.
To be a Leader, You Need to :

    1. Have vision:
Leaders have a clear sense of where they want to go
and how they intend to get there. They see the big picture,
then create a strategic plan for achieving their goals.

    2. Make decisions:
Leaders aren’t afraid to make difficult or unpopular decisions because they have confidence in themselves and in their abilities. They know that indecision wastes resources and opportunities.

    3. Take risks:
Leaders have the courage to act in situations where results aren’t assured. They're willing to risk failure.

    4. Motivate others:
Leaders can articulate their vision and ideals to others, convincing them of the value of their ideas. They can inspire people to work toward common goals and to achieve things they never thought they could do.

    5. Build teams:
Leaders create productive teams that draw the best from people. They effectively coach teams in collaboration, consensus building, and conflict resolution.

    6. Possess self-knowledge:
Leaders know their own strengths and weaknesses and are able to view their behavior objectively. They recognize their shortcomings, open themselves to feedback, and are willing to make changes when necessary.

    7. Display integrity:
Leaders must be trustworthy before others will follow them. Warren Bennis, The Leadership Institute, University of Southern California, says qualities that establish trust are competence, constancy, caring, candor, and congruity, which he defines as authenticity, reliability, and feeling comfortable with oneself.

    8. Pursue lifelong learning:
Leaders have a desire to continually learn and grow and are open to new ideas.

    9. Communicate effectively:
Leaders can convey their ideas to diverse individuals and adjust their styles to meet the needs of the people they lead.

    10. Help others succeed:
Leaders empower others and go out of their way to help them achieve their full potential, thereby benefiting the organization.

    Improve Your Positive Attitude ..

Positive attitude helps to cope more easily with the daily affairs of life. It brings optimism into your life, and makes it easier to avoid worry and negative thinking. If you adopt it as a way of life, it will bring constructive changes into your life, and makes them happier, brighter and more successful. With a positive attitude you see the bright side of life, become optimistic and expect the best to happen. It is certainly a state of mind that is well worth developing and strengthening.
and here is some tips which will help to enhance your positive attitude, and hence, enhance your whole life .

    Do Not Wait for Happiness.
Do not wait for good things to happen to you. You need to work towards happiness. You need to create a happy environment around you today to remain happy tomorrow. This is called an attitude. If you adopt a positive attitude, life becomes a rewarding game instead of a challenge to ‘get through.’

    Clarify and Prioritize
Learn to know what you want. If you know what you expect from yourself, your future becomes clear and your goals become attainable
Clarify your purpose : A purpose is something you fulfill each moment when you are in balance with your life. (A purpose is a simple, positive statement of why you are here). A purpose isn’t a goal statement, which one can achieve.
Discover your purpose: by identifying & prioritizing your most important roles in life (at home, at work, community etc) List the positive qualities that you aspire to possess: Honesty, Philanthropic, Accommodating, Tolerant etc.
Visualize your future, with a clear picture in your mind of what you want to accomplish in your lifetime (you can become what you think you are and what you see). One of the most powerful techniques for achieving life goals is visualization (creating a mental image of something happening in future). Believing in and seeing your dreams can motivate you to become what you want to be.
Set goals for yourself (To help your dreams for the future become a reality, you need to set short & long term goals) to stay on course.
To provide steady fuel for your energy, create a list of long term goals to be accomplished in life time & break them into several interim short term goals to help you chart your progress.

    Be Resilient
Resilient people are those who face setbacks but ultimately, with perseverance, recover from them. Try and be strong and face life’s difficulties as challenges; respond accordingly with action, rather than with fear, self-pity, inferiority or blame. While life can be very challenging, an important step in becoming more resilient is to develop the habit of positive self talk and to remind yourself that you are strong and can grow stronger and wiser as you handle life’s challenges.

    Self Pep Talk
One’s inner dialogue is one’s biggest strength and critic. Listen to your inner self and talk to it. Motivate yourself rather than getting motivated by others. It is the inner voice that makes us critical of ourselves. Rule your inner voice!

    Laugh Away
Humor is the best medicine. Make laughter a part of your day. Laughter is known to be a mood elevator. When feeling low, read funny stories or go through a joke book. Allow yourself to open up. See the funny side of things and you will realize, life is a complex, yet funny game.

    Seize the day
Carpe Diem, as the proverb goes. Always enjoy the moment. Do not worry about your past or future. Live for the day. What has happened is irreversible and what will happen is unknown, so try and enjoy what you have. Like someone has rightly said:
“The past is history, the future is mystery.
Today is a Gift, That is why we call it the Present”

    Be an Optimist
This is the golden rule to maintaining a positive attitude. Always believe in yourself. Being an optimist does not only mean to see the brighter side of life. To be an optimist means to view the surroundings wherein you maximize your strengths and achievements and minimize your weaknesses and apprehensions.
It is difficult to change yourself in a day But at least give it a try. A positive attitude in life will help you go places. Just curb that fear in you and move towards the right path!!

Remember, I CAN and I WILL.

    The six thinking Hats ,,

This is a well known method of enhancing team communication created by Edward De Bono. It fosters collaboration, creativity and innovation. There are six metaphorical hats. You ‘put on’ or ‘take off’ one of these hats to indicate the type of thinking being used. ‘Putting them on’ and ‘taking them off’ is essential: you must all be wearing the same hat at the same time. The hats must never be used to categorize people, even though their behavior may seem to invite this.

    The Red Hat:
This covers intuition, feelings and emotions.
The red hat allows the thinker to put forward an intuition without any need to justify it.
The red hat gives full permission to a thinker to put forward his or her feelings on the subject at the moment.

    The Yellow Hat:
This is the logical positive— why something will work and why it will offer benefits. It can be used in looking forward to the results of some proposed action, but can also be used to find something of value in what has already happened.

    The Green Hat:
This is the creative mode of thinking, green represents growth and movement. In the green hat we look for new ideas and solutions. lateral thinking wears a green hat.

    The Blue Hat:
This is the overview or process control hat. It looks not at the subject itself but at the 'thinking' about the subject. 'Putting on my blue hat, I think we should do some more
    green hat thinking.'

    The White Hat:
The information seeking hat. This covers facts, figures, information needs and gaps. ‘I think we need some white hat thinking at this point...’ means ‘Let's drop the arguments and suggestions and look
    at the data.’

    The Black Hat:
This is the hat of judgement and caution. It is a most valuable hat. It is not in any sense an inferior or negative hat. The black hat is used to point out why a suggestion does not fit the facts, the available experience, the system in use, or the path that is being followed. The black hat must always be logical.
